Annunciation Virgin Mary paint by numbers: Gabriel and the Virgin in a walled lily garden
The Virgin Mary wears a red robe under a blue cloak, and the archangel Gabriel stands opposite her with white wings spread. A bunch of white lilies sits at the centre of the composition, and a stone arch frames both figures. Climbing vines cover the garden walls, and a stone bench rests on the beige ground. The style is classic realism.
The palette is built on blue, red, white, green and beige. The cloak, the robe and the wings are large, distinct blocks of colour, so the figures stay easy to follow while you work. Hung in a bedroom or a quiet hallway, the finished canvas gives a calm focal point, and its religious subject makes it a fitting gift for someone who likes classic sacred art.
Tips for painting this design
Start with the garden background and the stone arch, which give you the large beige and green areas. Move on to the Virgin's clothing: the blue cloak and the red robe meet along outlines that need a steady hand and the medium brush. Finish with Gabriel's white wings and the lilies. Each flower needs the fine brush to keep the white petals apart from the green behind them.
The vines and lilies carry a lot of small detail, so choose a square size of 40x40 cm or larger. The kit is available from 20x30 to 60x80 cm in 9 sizes, with 24, 36 or 48 colours depending on the option. What's in the kit
Canvas:The printed linen canvas carries the outlines of the Virgin in her red robe, the angel with white wings and the stone arch.
Paint:The numbered pots cover the blue of the cloak, the red of the robe, the white of the lilies and the green of the vines.
Brushes:The fine brush is for the facial features and the lilies, the broad brush for the beige and green garden backgrounds.
Guide:The paper guide lets you check the numbers for the stone bench and the flowered garden areas.
Optional:The wooden frame to assemble stretches the printed canvas of the walled garden and the stone arch. You can also choose it already mounted on its frame, ready to hang.

Without frame
The canvas arrives rolled in a tube. You paint it flat and frame it afterwards if you wish.
With frame
Wooden stretcher bars to assemble stretch the canvas. You paint on a taut surface and hang the picture on the wall.
Mounted canvas
The canvas arrives already stretched on its wooden frame. You start painting right away and hang the picture on the wall.
Questions about this design
Which size should I choose for the Annunciation design?
Choose 40x40 cm or 50x50 cm at least. The vines on the walls and the lily petals are small areas, and a larger canvas gives each one more room. The smallest size, 20x30 cm, leaves very little space for these details.
Are the white lilies difficult to paint?
They take the most care in this design. Each lily is a small white area set against green, so use the fine brush supplied to keep the petals and stems separate. Paint the green background first, then add the white.
How many colours does this kit come with?
You can choose 24, 36 or 48 colours. The blue cloak, red robe, white wings and beige ground are all covered by the numbered acrylic pots, which are ready to use and come with three brushes: fine, medium and wide.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
You can choose the rolled linen canvas without a frame, or add a wooden frame to assemble yourself once the painting is dry. Both options have the outlines and numbers already printed, and orders are dispatched within 48 hours.
