Wooden canvas frames for paint by numbers that make your painting wall-ready
A finished canvas left rolled in its tube stays creased and cannot be hung. Stretched on one of these wooden frames, it lies flat, hangs straight and needs no extra framing. The natural pine bars are cut to match the sizes of our paint by numbers canvases.

How to stretch a canvas on a wooden frame in 4 steps
- Assemble the frame: slot the 4 bars together. The pre-grooved corners settle at 90 degrees with a firm push.
- Centre the canvas: lay the canvas painted side down on a clean table and place the frame on the back, with the design centred.
- Stretch and fix: fold the edges over the sides and push in the tacks, starting from the middle of each side. Work towards the corners and alternate between opposite sides so the tension stays even.
- Hang: screw one of the supplied hooks to the back of the frame and put the painting on the wall.
Before or after painting? You can do either. A canvas mounted before you start gives you a taut, rigid surface to paint on. If you mount it afterwards, you paint flat on the table, but the paint must be fully dry before you fold the edges over the frame.
Which frame size should I choose?
Take the size printed on your paint by numbers kit. A 40x50 cm kit fits the 40x50 cm frame. Our canvases keep a white margin of 3 to 4 cm around the design, and that margin is what folds over the sides and gets tacked at the back. You can also look through our other paint by numbers accessories.
Your questions about the wooden frames
Which frame size fits my paint by numbers canvas?
Choose the frame with the same size as your kit. A 40x50 cm kit takes the 40x50 cm frame. The frames are sold in 7 sizes, from 15x15 to 70x80 cm, and the white margin on the canvas covers the sides.
Do I need glue or nails to assemble the frame?
No. The 4 pine bars have grooved, bevelled notches that slot together with a push, so the corners sit square without glue or nails. Illustrated instructions come in the box if you want to check a step.
How do I stretch a canvas without pliers or a stapler?
The supplied gold tacks are enough. Fold the canvas over the sides and push in a tack at the middle of each side. Then work towards the corners, alternating between opposite sides to keep the canvas flat.
How do I hang the stretched canvas?
Screw one of the 2 supplied hooks to the back of the frame, using the screws in the box, then hang the painting on the wall. The second hook is there if you want to fix a second point.
