Difficulty level : Advanced
iWhat does this level mean?
- Beginner: one large subject and big areas to paint, little detail. Ideal for a first canvas.
- Intermediate: several elements or colour gradients, with smaller areas. It takes a little more care and a fine brush in places.
- Advanced: a busy scene with many small areas and small faces to paint with a fine brush. For experienced painters, or with patience.
Tip: on a larger canvas the areas are bigger and easier to paint.
Colourful Stitch paint by numbers: pop art on a black background
Stitch sits with his ears up and his mouth open on his pointed teeth, drawn in pop art style against a plain black background. A yellow medal hangs at his collar, and splashes of blue, purple, pink and green run around him. The black ground pushes the blues and pinks forward, so the finished canvas reads from across a room. This is an intermediate kit: the face and the large ears carry clean outlines that keep number matching simple, while the drips and the teeth hold the fine work. Expect around 12 to 30 hours depending on the size, with 24, 36 or 48 colours in the pots. The portrait format fits a narrow hallway wall, a wardrobe door or the gap between two shelves. It makes a straight gift for a Stitch fan who already paints. If you want a second canvas for the same wall, the other designs in our stitch paint by numbers range use the same printed linen and numbered pots.
Tips for painting this design
Paint the black background first. It is the largest area and it sets the edge of every shape around Stitch. Then fill his blue body, then the ears where they meet the black. Leave the purple and pink drips until the black is fully dry, or the wet paint muddies them. The pointed teeth and the yellow medal need the fine brush and a thin layer; two light passes cover better than one heavy coat. A 40x50 cm canvas leaves room for the splashes, and on 30x40 cm the drips tighten into small marks. The same flat, high-contrast look runs through our pop art paint by numbers range.
Sizes, colours and painting time
The design comes in 20x30 to 60x80 cm (9 sizes). You choose a 24, 36 or 48 colour kit, on rolled canvas, with a wooden frame to assemble or with the canvas already mounted on its frame (except in 50x70 and 60x80 cm, delivered rolled). Allow around 12 to 30 hours depending on the size.
What's in the kit
Canvas:printed linen with the outlines of sitting Stitch and the numbers for every area, including the black background.
Paint:numbered acrylic pots, ready to use, holding the blue, purple, pink, green and black of this design.
Brushes:three of them. The fine brush is for the pointed teeth and the medal, the medium for the collar, the wide one for the black ground.
Guide:a paper copy of the design, useful for finding the number of each drip where the colours sit close together.
Optional:the wooden frame comes flat and assembles by hand, so you can stretch the canvas before painting the tall ears. You can also choose it already mounted on its frame, ready to hang.

Without frame
The canvas arrives rolled in a tube. You paint it flat and frame it afterwards if you wish.
With frame
Wooden stretcher bars to assemble stretch the canvas. You paint on a taut surface and hang the finished picture on the wall.
Mounted canvas
The canvas arrives already stretched on its wooden frame. You start painting right away and hang the picture on the wall.
Questions about this design
Which size should I choose for this colourful Stitch kit?
40x50 cm gives the drips and the face enough room to stay sharp. 30x40 cm works if you are new to painting, though the splashes get tighter. 50x70 cm and 60x80 cm suit anyone who wants a large wall picture and does not mind the extra hours.
Who is this kit a good gift for?
For a Stitch or pop art fan who likes strong colour. It suits an intermediate painter: the black background and the blue body fill in quickly, and the teeth, medal and drips ask for a steady hand. No drawing skill is needed, and the printed canvas, pots, brushes and reference sheet all come in the box.
How do you paint by numbers?
Black background first, then Stitch's blue body and the ears. Leave the purple, pink and green drips until the black is dry, as they sit on top of it. The teeth and the yellow medal come last with the fine brush and a small amount of paint.
How do you use the paint by numbers kit?
Each pot carries a number that matches the numbered areas on the linen canvas. You fill every shape with its matching pot, so the picture builds up area by area. The paper reference sheet shows the finished design and helps you check numbers where the drips crowd together.
