Difficulty level : Intermediate
iWhat does this level mean?
- Beginner: one large subject and big areas to paint, little detail. Ideal for a first canvas.
- Intermediate: several elements or colour gradients, with smaller areas. It takes a little more care and a fine brush in places.
- Advanced: a busy scene with many small areas and small faces to paint with a fine brush. For experienced painters, or with patience.
Tip: on a larger canvas the areas are bigger and easier to paint.
Rubble and Crew playground paint by numbers kit for a sunny play scene
Rubble and his crew are playing in a sunny outdoor playground, and the yellow digger takes the centre of the picture. Our Rubble and Crew playground paint by numbers kit prints the scene on linen canvas with outlines and numbers, so you match each pot to its area and fill it in. The orange slide, the multicoloured tunnel and the blue swings each hold a block of colour. The white stork in the foreground and the gear panel carry the smallest shapes. Green grass covers the ground, with mountains behind the playground. The level is intermediate: medium areas for most of the scene, fine work on the stork, the panel and the pups. You will find the other playsets in our Rubble and Crew paint by numbers collection, and more pups in the PAW Patrol paint by numbers range.
Tips for painting this design
Block in the sky and the mountains first, so the background settles before you work on the equipment. Lay the green grass with the wide brush and let it dry before you touch the edge of the playground. The orange slide, the tunnel and the blue swings take the medium brush. Switch to the fine one for the gear panel, the stork's legs and the outlines of the pups. Leave the yellow digger until the second half of the session: yellow over a dark line takes two thin coats. A 40x40 cm canvas keeps the square framing and gives your brush room in the tunnel, while the smallest sizes take the fewest hours.
Sizes, colours and painting time
The design comes in 20x30 to 60x80 cm (9 sizes). You choose a kit with 24, 36 or 48 colours, on rolled canvas, with a wooden frame to assemble or with the canvas already mounted on its frame (except in 50x70 and 60x80 cm, delivered rolled). Allow around 12 to 30 h depending on the size.
What's in the kit
Canvas:The printed linen canvas carries the outlines and numbers of the playground, from the yellow digger to the mountains behind.
Paint:The numbered acrylic pots are ready to use, and the yellow of the digger, the blue of the swings and the green of the grass hold their colour in thin coats.
Brushes:The fine brush is for the gear panel and the stork, the medium one for the slide and the tunnel, the wide one for the grass and the sky.
Guide:The paper guide lets you check the numbers for the areas of the slide, the tunnel and the white stork.
Optional:As an option, the wooden frame to assemble stretches the playground canvas, otherwise it arrives rolled in a tube. You can also choose it already mounted on its frame, ready to hang.

Without frame
The canvas arrives rolled in a tube. You paint it flat and frame it afterwards if you wish.
With frame
Wooden stretcher bars to assemble stretch the canvas. You paint on a taut surface and hang the picture on the wall.
Mounted canvas
The canvas arrives already stretched on its wooden frame. You start painting right away and hang the picture on the wall.
Questions about this design
Which size should I choose for this Rubble and Crew playground design?
The 40x40 cm canvas keeps the square framing of the scene and leaves room for the tunnel, the gear panel and the pups. Choose a smaller size for a quick first kit, or a larger one when the fine work on the stork needs more space under the brush.
Are the details hard to paint?
The kit is rated intermediate. Most of the playground is medium areas, so the wide and medium brushes do the work. The gear panel, the stork and the outlines of the pups need the fine brush, and the yellow digger takes two thin coats.
Who is this paint kit a good gift for?
It suits children who watch Rubble and Crew and adults who like cartoon scenes. Painted at 40x40 cm it hangs well in a bedroom or a playroom. Children still learning to keep inside the lines do better with one of the smaller sizes.
