Difficulty level : Beginner
iWhat does this level mean?
- Beginner: one large subject and big areas to paint, little detail. Ideal for a first canvas.
- Intermediate: several elements or colour gradients, with smaller areas. It takes a little more care and a fine brush in places.
- Advanced: a busy scene with many small areas and small faces to paint with a fine brush. For experienced painters, or with patience.
Tip: on a larger canvas the areas are bigger and easier to paint.
Zuma PAW Patrol on the Beach paint by numbers, the rescue dog on the sand
Zuma runs along a beach by the sea in his helmet and orange gilet. The beige sand fills the bottom of the canvas, the blue sea crosses the horizon and the yellow sunset sky takes the top. Stylised paw prints sit in the sky and on the sand. Large flat areas and few small details mean most of the canvas fills with a wide brush, so a first painting keeps moving. This is one of our paw patrol paint by numbers designs, printed on linen with the outlines and the numbers already in place.
Tips for painting this design
Start with the yellow sky and the blue sea: they are the two largest surfaces and a wide brush covers them. Move on to the beige sand, then the brown body of the dog. Keep the fine brush for the helmet, the orange gilet and the paw prints, where the outlines sit close together. A 30x40 cm or 40x40 cm canvas keeps those areas wide enough for a child's hand. Choose 24 colours for a child painting alone, 36 if you want the shades of the sunset sky separated.
Sizes, colours and painting time
We print the design in 9 sizes, from 20x30 to 60x80 cm. You pick 24, 36 or 48 colours, and the canvas arrives rolled or with a wooden frame to assemble. Painting takes around 8 hours on the smallest canvas and up to 20 hours on the largest. Orders leave us within 48 hours. If you would rather paint a seascape without the pup, our beach and sea paint by numbers designs use the same seaside setting.
What the kit contains
Canvas:linen printed with the outlines and numbers, showing Zuma, his helmet and the blue sea to guide each area.
Paint:numbered acrylic pots, ready to use, with the orange of the helmet, the brown of the fur, the blue of the sea, the beige of the sand and the yellow of the sky.
Brushes:three of them, the fine one for the paw prints and the helmet, the medium one for the gilet, the wide one for the sky and the sea.
Guide:the paper guide lets you check the number of any area, such as the orange helmet or the beige sand.
Optional:the wooden frame to assemble stretches the printed canvas while you paint Zuma and the beach. You can also choose it already mounted on its frame, ready to hang.

Without frame
The canvas arrives rolled in a tube. You paint it flat and frame it afterwards if you wish.
With frame
Wooden stretcher bars to assemble stretch the canvas. You paint on a taut surface and hang the picture on the wall.
Mounted canvas
The canvas arrives already stretched on its wooden frame. You start painting right away and hang the picture on the wall.
Questions about this design
Which size should I choose for this Zuma picture?
30x40 cm and 40x40 cm keep the sky, the sea and the sand large enough to fill with a wide brush, which suits a child. Go up to 40x50 cm if the finished picture hangs on a wall on its own, as the design has no fine detail to lose at that size.
Are the details difficult to paint?
No. The level is beginner and the design keeps large flat areas: the helmet, the gilet and the paw prints are the only parts that need a fine brush. Everything else takes a medium or wide brush, and the numbered acrylic paint is ready to use straight from the pot.
How many colours do I need for the sunset sky?
The kit comes with 24, 36 or 48 pots. Take 36 if you want the yellow sky and the blue sea separated into distinct bands of shade. 24 is enough for a child painting the large areas in one tone each, and 48 gives the finest steps between them.
What are the standard picture sizes?
The canvas arrives rolled in a tube without a frame, or with a wooden frame to assemble if you pick that option. The frame stretches the printed linen while you paint and keeps the sand and the sea flat, and the rolled canvas is the lighter choice to post.
Who is this Zuma paint by numbers kit for?
For a PAW Patrol fan who is starting out: a child painting with help at the start, or an adult who wants an easy canvas for a quiet evening. The printed canvas, the numbered pots and three brushes are all in the box, so it works as a present as it stands.
