iWhat does this level mean?
- Beginner: one large subject and big areas to paint, little detail. Ideal for a first canvas.
- Intermediate: several elements or colour gradients, with smaller areas. It takes a little more care and a fine brush in places.
- Advanced: a busy scene with many small areas and small faces to paint with a fine brush. For experienced painters, or with patience.
Tip: on a larger canvas the areas are bigger and easier to paint.
Moonlit beach paint by numbers kit: a crescent moon over a sparkling ocean
The midnight blue sky fills the top half of the canvas and is dotted with white stars. A pale yellow crescent moon hangs in it, and on the left a golden orb lights the waves below. The ocean runs from turquoise to violet and pink, with bioluminescent waves and rainbow reflections, and the beach in the foreground is painted in light sand tones with no complex detail. The portrait format stresses the height of the sky and the moon. This kit belongs to our fantasy paint by numbers range, and if you like sea views you can also browse our beach and sea paint by numbers.
The level is intermediate. The sky and sand are medium areas that fill quickly, while the waves and reflections ask for more care. Allow around 12 to 30 hours depending on the size you choose.
Tips for painting this design
Start with the midnight blue sky, the largest area, using the wide brush. Move on to the light sand, then the moon and the golden orb. Leave the bioluminescent waves and rainbow reflections for last. These are the finest areas, so take the fine brush and finish one colour at a time. A 40x50 cm or 50x70 cm canvas gives the water gradients enough room. At 20x30 cm the reflection bands are so narrow that the colours run together.
Sizes, colours and painting time
The design comes in 15x15 to 70x80 cm (12 sizes). You choose a 24, 36 or 48 colour kit, on rolled canvas, with or without a wooden frame to assemble. Allow around 12 to 30 h depending on the size.
What's in the kit
Canvas:Linen canvas with the outlines and numbers already printed, including the waves, the crescent moon and the stars.
Paint:Numbered acrylic paints, ready to use, in 24, 36 or 48 colours depending on the option. They cover the turquoise, midnight blue, gold, yellow and purple of the ocean and sky.
Brushes:Three brushes. The fine one is for the stars and the edge of the moon, the medium one for the waves, the wide one for the sand and sky.
Guide:A paper chart of the design lets you check the number of each area, especially on the rainbow reflections and the golden orb.
Optional:A wooden frame to assemble, which stretches the canvas while you paint the sand and the sea.

Without frame
The canvas arrives rolled in a tube. You paint it flat and frame it afterwards if you wish.
With frame
Wooden stretcher bars to assemble stretch the canvas. You paint on a taut surface and hang the picture on the wall.
Questions about this design
Which size should I choose for this night beach?
The kit comes in 12 sizes, from 15x15 to 70x80 cm. We suggest 40x50 cm or 50x70 cm: the waves and reflections stay readable and the sky gradients are easier to blend. At 20x30 cm the reflection bands become very narrow and the colours run together.
Are the waves and reflections difficult to paint?
The kit is rated intermediate. Each reflection colour covers a narrow band of water, so the waves take patience. Paint the sky and sand first, then work through the waves with the fine brush, one numbered colour at a time. The sky and sand areas are medium sized and fill quickly.
Who is this picture a good gift for?
It suits anyone who likes night scenes and sea views. The portrait format fits a hallway or bedroom wall. Allow around 12 to 30 hours of painting depending on the size, and we dispatch the kit within 48 hours.
How do I use the paint by numbers kit?
Paint the midnight blue sky with the wide brush, then the light sand, the moon and the golden orb. Keep the bioluminescent waves and rainbow reflections for the end, with the fine brush. The paper chart helps you check the number of each area.
