Difficulty level : Advanced
iWhat does this level mean?
- Beginner: one large subject and big areas to paint, little detail. Ideal for a first canvas.
- Intermediate: several elements or colour gradients, with smaller areas. It takes a little more care and a fine brush in places.
- Advanced: a busy scene with many small areas and small faces to paint with a fine brush. For experienced painters, or with patience.
Tip: on a larger canvas the areas are bigger and easier to paint.
Yuta Okkotsu purple katana paint by numbers kit
Two faces share the frame. Yuta Okkotsu stands in the foreground in white clothes, holding a katana whose blade glows purple, and his eyes carry the same light. Behind him the dark face of Ryomen Sukuna fills the background. Purple, black, grey and mauve set the tone, so most of the canvas stays dark apart from the sword and the white fabric. The portrait format suits a single character better than a wide scene. Numbered areas run to medium size with fine detail left around the eyes and the edge of the blade, which is why we rate the kit intermediate. Painting takes around 12 to 30 hours depending on the size you pick. Tips for painting this design
Block in the background first: cover the black and grey of Sukuna's face with the wide brush, working from the outside edge inwards. Leave the blade and the eyes until the flat areas are done, since they need two coats before the printed numbers stop showing through. Switch to the fine brush for the outlines of the sword and the facial features, where the areas are smallest. A 40x50 cm canvas or larger gives your hand room on those details, and the 30x40 cm size still works if you want something compact.
Sizes, colours and painting time
The design comes in 20x30 to 60x80 cm (9 sizes). You choose a kit with 24, 36 or 48 colours, on rolled canvas, with a wooden frame to assemble or with the canvas already mounted on its frame (except in 50x70 and 60x80 cm, delivered rolled). Allow around 12 to 30 h depending on the size.
What's in the kit
Canvas:the printed linen canvas carries the outlines and numbers for Yuta, his katana and the face behind him.
Paint:the numbered acrylic pots cover the purple of the blade, the mauve of the eyes, the white clothes and the black background.
Brushes:three brushes. The fine one handles the eyes and the blade edge, the medium the face, the wide one the flat dark areas.
Guide:the paper guide lists the number of every area on the sword, the sheath and the silhouette in the background.
Optional:the wooden frame to assemble, which stretches the portrait canvas before you hang it. You can also choose it already mounted on its frame, ready to hang.

Without frame
The canvas arrives rolled in a tube. You paint it flat and frame it afterwards if you wish.
With frame
Wooden stretcher bars to assemble stretch the canvas. You paint on a taut surface and hang the finished picture on the wall.
Mounted canvas
The canvas arrives already stretched on its wooden frame. You start painting right away and hang the picture on the wall.
Questions about this design
Which size should I choose for this Yuta Okkotsu canvas?
Go for 40x50 cm or larger if you want room for the eyes and the edge of the blade, where the numbered areas are smallest. The 30x40 cm size still holds the full scene. We offer 9 sizes from 20x30 to 60x80 cm.
Will the purple paint cover the printed numbers?
The acrylic is ready to use and the purple of the blade, the mauve of the eyes and the white clothes usually need two coats before the numbers disappear. Paint the first coat thinly, let it dry, then go over the area again. The fine brush keeps the blade edge clean.
How hard is this kit to paint?
We rate it intermediate. Most areas are medium sized, with fine work left around Yuta's eyes and the glowing blade. The wide brush makes short work of the black background. Expect around 12 to 30 hours of painting, depending on the canvas size you choose.
How many colours come in the kit?
It depends on the option you pick: 24, 36 or 48 numbered acrylics. More pots give you closer shades across the mauve, grey and purple areas of the blade. The number printed inside each area matches the pot, so sorting the paints before you start saves time.
How do I use the paint by numbers kit?
Start on the dark background with the wide brush, then paint the purple blade in two coats, then the white clothes. Match the number inside each area to the pot before you dip, and keep the fine brush for the blade edge and the eyes.
