The haunted house stands at the bottom of the garden, surrounded by pink and orange trees. Around it you paint four pumpkins, two little white ghosts, gravestones and a string of bunting hung between the branches. Bats cross a twilight sky of purple and pink. The cartoon style gives clean outlines and flat areas that are easy to spot. Each area carries its number, from the pale pink of the leaves to the black of the manor windows. The portrait format gives a wide sky at the top and a detailed ground at the bottom. The many fine details make this an advanced kit, so allow around 20 to 40 hours depending on the size.

Tips for painting this design

Start with the sky at the top of the canvas: the pink and purple gradients go on in broad bands with the medium brush. Then paint the house, its black windows and its walls, before the trees. Keep the white ghosts and the pumpkin outlines for the end, with the fine brush, as these are the smallest areas. The gravestones need a grey slightly different from the walls.
