Difficulty level : Beginner
iWhat does this level mean?
- Beginner: one large subject and big areas to paint, little detail. Ideal for a first canvas.
- Intermediate: several elements or colour gradients, with smaller areas. It takes a little more care and a fine brush in places.
- Advanced: a busy scene with many small areas and small faces to paint with a fine brush. For experienced painters, or with patience.
Tip: on a larger canvas the areas are bigger and easier to paint.
Bluey and Bingo kite paint by numbers kit
Bluey holds the kite string while Bingo runs beside her across a green meadow. The printed linen canvas carries the whole scene: blue sky over the top half, white clouds and leaves in the wind, trees along the meadow edge and a mountain in the distance. Blue, green, red, yellow, purple and orange cover most of the picture. Detail is medium, with small sections on the two faces and on the kite, and the square canvas keeps the proportions of the original. Our Bluey paint by numbers range has more scenes from the same cartoon.
Tips for painting this design
Start with the sky and the clouds, which fill the background in broad strokes. Move on to the mountain and the trees while that dries, then finish with the meadow, the two dogs and the kite, working top to bottom so your hand never rests on wet paint. The red, yellow and purple panels of the kite are the tightest areas, so switch to the fine brush there. The 40x40 cm and 50x50 cm sizes hold the square ratio and keep the faces large enough to shape. For a child painting beside you, the sky and the grass are easy fills and our paint by numbers for kids and beginners range is a good starting point.
Sizes, colours and painting time
The design comes in 20x30 to 60x80 cm (9 sizes). You choose a 24, 36 or 48 colour kit, on rolled canvas, with a wooden frame to assemble or with the canvas already mounted on its frame (except in 50x70 and 60x80 cm, delivered rolled). Allow around 12 to 30 h depending on the size.
What the kit contains
Canvas:The printed linen canvas carries the outlines and numbers of Bluey, Bingo, the kite and the meadow.
Paint:Numbered acrylic pots, ready to use, covering the blue sky, the greens of the meadow and the reds and purples of the kite.
Brushes:The fine brush fills the kite string and the leaves, the medium one the two characters, the wide one the sky and the grass.
Guide:A paper guide to the design, for checking the numbers on the kite, the trees and the mountain.
Optional:A wooden frame to assemble, if you would rather stretch the canvas before painting. You can also choose it already mounted on its frame, ready to hang.

Without frame
The canvas arrives rolled in a tube. You paint it flat and frame it afterwards if you wish.
With frame
Wooden stretcher bars to assemble stretch the canvas. You paint on a taut surface and hang the picture on the wall.
Mounted canvas
The canvas arrives already stretched on its wooden frame. You start painting right away and hang the picture on the wall.
Questions about this design
Which size should I choose for this square design?
The 40x40 cm and 50x50 cm sizes keep the square proportions of the scene and leave the faces of Bluey and Bingo big enough to shape. Below 30x30 cm the areas on the two dogs and on the kite shrink and take longer to fill cleanly.
Is the kite difficult to paint?
It is the fiddliest part of the canvas. Red, yellow, purple and orange sit close together, so use the fine brush and fill one numbered section at a time. The sky, the clouds and the meadow are large areas and go quickly with the wide brush.
Where does the finished painting go?
The square scene suits a child's bedroom above a bed or a desk, and the blue and green palette works in a playroom. Painted or still boxed, it makes a gift for a child who watches the cartoon.
